CCCC Release Outcomes
Cibola County Correctional Center is privately operated by CoreCivic, but the operator does not become the legal custodian for every person held there. County detainees may leave after bond, a court order, time served, dismissal, or transfer. A sentenced person can move into New Mexico Corrections Department custody. Other county detainees may go to another local facility. The release log should state whether the event was a community release or a custody handoff.
USMS and ICE departures follow different chains. A person held for the U.S. Marshals Service may move to another contract bed, remain detained before trial, or enter Bureau of Prisons custody after federal designation. An ICE detainee may transfer inside the immigration detention system or leave under immigration authority. None of those outcomes can be proven from a county court record alone.
| Custody owner | Possible departure | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Cibola County | Bond, court release, time served, county or NMCD transfer | CCCC intake, county IPRA record, and originating court |
| USMS | Federal transfer, continued pretrial detention, or BOP designation | Federal docket, USMS or holding facility, then BOP when designated |
| ICE | Immigration transfer or release under immigration authority | ICE ODLS and the ICE information line |
A transfer creates an out-date at CCCC without ending custody. This is why the receiving-agency field matters. The broader Cibola County released inmate search explains how court, county, state, and federal records fit together when the custody owner is still unclear.
CCCC County Release Records
When Cibola County owned the custody, the county release log and court file form the documentary path. The county transparency page identifies the IPRA process. IPRA is the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act. A written request should describe the booking with reasonable detail and ask for the nonexempt booking sheet, custody or release log, booking number, admission date and time, release date and time, release type, authorizing court or agency, and destination if the event was a transfer.
Written requests trigger the statutory response process. Inspection should occur at once or as soon as practicable. If the record is not ready within three business days, the custodian should provide a written timing response. The usual production or denial period is within fifteen calendar days, though a broad request may take more reasonable time after notice. The published county form lists one dollar per ordinary legal or letter page or computer printout, while inspection carries no listed fee. Confirm the current cost before ordering copies.
- Release
- Physical custody ends under the authority shown in the record.
- Transfer
- The person leaves CCCC but remains in another agency’s custody.
- Release authority
- The court, agency, sentence event, or lawful basis that caused the departure.
- Receiving agency
- The government body that took custody after the CCCC out-date.
The court docket can explain why a county release should occur, but its timestamp is not necessarily the jail exit time. Obtain the order or judgment from the right clerk, then compare it with the CCCC release record. Cibola County’s bond page routes matters among Milan Municipal, Grants Municipal, Cibola Magistrate, and Cibola District Court because the source court depends on the case.
CCCC Federal Release Routes
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System accepts a nine-digit A-number with country of birth or biographical information. Leading zeros are added to a shorter A-number. ICE states that the locator includes current detainees and releases within the last sixty days. A recent release result may corroborate an immigration event, but a no-hit after that window is inconclusive. ODLS also excludes people under eighteen.
USMS custody has no comparable verified public person locator. The Marshals Service holds federal prisoners from court commitment through acquittal or delivery to BOP after conviction. A move from CCCC can mean continued USMS custody elsewhere. Check the federal case docket, contact the District of New Mexico or holding facility, and then use the BOP Inmate Locator if the person has been designated to BOP. A BOP result marked “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” establishes only the BOP status, not freedom from every other authority.
Older material can add confusion. CCCC historically held BOP inmates, but the BOP contract ended in 2016. Current agency records control. Do not use an old facility description to infer who held a person or where the person went.
CCCC Release Contacts
The current CoreCivic facility page supplies the operator’s contact details, while the county detention page supplies the intake and liaison routes used for county inquiries. Call the relevant line with enough identifying detail to avoid mixing people with similar names. Hours listed for the county liaison are not a promise that records or release processing occur on that schedule.

No official source identifies a release exit door, daily release hour, family waiting point, local transit stop, property-return procedure, or gate-money policy. Call intake before traveling. The absence of published logistics should not be filled with assumptions from a different CoreCivic site.
Note: Facility staff can confirm a location event, but the owning agency’s record is the best proof of its legal meaning.
Why Old Cibola Jail Names Mislead
Cibola County’s standalone jail at 114 McBride Road closed in 2017. The current county detention page directs inquiries to CCCC at Cibola Loop. Yet the McBride address remains online in old directories, and county and court offices still occupy the McBride complex. That overlap can make a stale listing look current even when it points to no operating jail.
Historical bookings from McBride remain valid record subjects. They belong in county IPRA files and the related court docket, not in a current CCCC locator inquiry unless the person later entered CCCC custody. The former detention center record page separates those archived bookings from today’s custody route.
Old names also affect nearby state-prison records. The men’s site once called Northwest New Mexico Correctional Center transitioned from private operation to NMCD in November 2021 and is now part of Western New Mexico Correctional Facility. Facility name, date range, and legal custodian must all match before a release record is attributed.
